Did you happen to notice the new tab at the top of my blog? The one titled 2013 Race Schedule? If not, no worries, because I’m here now to share it with you.
I was only able to participate in a couple of races last year because I was pregnant and I am more than ready to make up for it.
Since I live in basically the middle of nowhere race weekends also equal girl weekends, which honestly speaking are as much a part of wanting to race as the actual running.
Some of these races are still tentative but I’m going to do everything I can to make them happen.
Here is what I have scheduled so far:
March 2, 2013 – Snake River Canyon Half-Marathon – Pullman, WA: This is part of our marathon training. It is a small race (capped at 700 runners and already sold out) south of the border. We live in a border town (it is 5 minutes to the crossing from our house) so it opens up more race possibilities, which is awesome. Krista, Leanne, and I will be making this a girls trip with a night in Spokane for some shopping (hello Trader Joes!). A friend from University who lives in Idaho will also be running this race so it will be nice to catch up with her.
May 5, 2013 – BMO Vancouver Marathon – Vancouver, BC: This is the MAIN EVENT of 2013. My very first full marathon.
May 19, 2013 – Bluenose Half-Marathon (tentative) – Halifax, NS: I must repeat that this is still tentative (don’t mark anything on the calendar just yet Mom). It has been almost two years since we were back East for a visit and it is overdue. I told Andrew that I want to run a race on our next visit so we’re making plans based on that fact. We’re still working out the logistics but my fingers are crossed it will work out.
August 10, 2013 – SeaWheeze Half-Marathon – Vancouver, BC: Lululemon, running, and did I mention Lululemon? This will be the second annual SeaWheeze and I WILL be there this year!
September 2013 – The Scenic Half Marathon 10K (tentative) – Sandpoint, ID: They don’t know it yet, but I’m crashing the annual race weekend to Sandpoint, ID that Krista and Leanne go on – you hear that ladies?
I’ve marked it as tentative because I actually have no idea if they are even going, but if they do, I’ll be there.
October 13, 2013 – BMO Okanagan Half-Marathon – Kelowna, BC: This is becoming some-what of a tradition, plus it’s where I ran my first half-marathon so it only seems right that I return and aim for a PR.
That’s it for now.
Where are you racing this year? Let me know if you’ll be at any of the above races.

Of course you are crashing the Scenic Half! That will be tons of fun! I’m excited to sign up for SeaWheeze. It was great last year. I’m not sure if the kiddo’s and Doug are coming yet but it doesn’t matter, I’m going
I didn’t even think about the possibility of Andrew coming
Either way though it will be fun! Except for the shorts, too bad they didn’t get rid of those.
The family isn’t committed yet but it’s a possibility. On a good note, SeaWheeze is letting the ladies choose from 2 different short styles. I still need to e-bay the polka dot underwear ones.
I so hope everything works out for your visit back East in May. You may be the very reason for me to sign up for my second Half Marathon ever! And T is already planning to run the Bluenose Half. So much fun!
It’s looking good and I’m being optimistic because I already registered for the race
Yes! It would be awesome if you did the half too, running with you two will definitely be one of the highlights of the trip!
Sandpoint is always a blast. Another one that we have to sign up for as soon as the registration opens or it will be sold out…
You should really try Sufferfest (Kaslo – end of September) too Jenny – it’s a trail one – but it’s absolutely my favorite race of all time!
Sufferfest looks fun! I just may have to add the 10K trail run to my schedule – and who knows, maybe 2014 will be the year the three of us tackle the 50K
Looks like a great schedule to me!
Looks like a fun race schedule! It’s funny that I’ve never even heard of these, because I live in such a different area. I kind of like that, because it means there are LOTS of choices.
Definitely lots of choices out there, which means a lot of opportunities to travel for races!
