Thursday may just be my new favourite day of the week because it’s Playlist Thursday with Pavement Runner.
It’s easy to participate: Every Thursday create a list composed of 3 songs that can, or should be, added to your workout playlist following this simple format:
Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.
Before each song include: Artist, Title, Side Note: (Anything you want to say about the song) Quotable: (line from the song)
This week Pavement Runner is leaving it up to us to decide our own theme. Yep, it’s Viewer’s Choice week. With so many different themes to choose from I decided to go with the Boy Bands. I loved them growing-up and still get a twinge of fan girl love when new cuties hit the airwaves. Guilty as charged.
Artist: New Kids on the Block
Title: Step by Step
Side Note: What girl wasn’t in love with the New Kids? OK, so I’m sure there were some of you but I definitely wasn’t one of them. Donnie was my favourite and I had the pillow case to prove it. I never got to see them in concert at the height of their career but in 2009 I had my chance. They may go by NKOTB now but they knew we were there to hear the oldies and boy did they deliver.
Quotable: “Step by step, oooh baby, gonna get to you girl. Step by step, oooh baby, really want you in my world.”
Artist: One Direction
Title: Live While We’re Young
Side Note: The first time I listened to one of One Direction’s songs was on YouTube and my husband was sitting next to me. He instantly made fun of me and was bugging me that my heart was melting in front of his eyes. What can I say, the boy bands can still pull me in. Oh, and if I *had* to choose, I’d go with that cute blonde boy from Ireland
Quotable: “Let’s go crazy, crazy, crazy til we see the sun. I know we only met but let’s pretend it’s love.”
Something to Consider
Artist: Bell Biv DeVoe
Side Note: Technically, Bell Biv DeVoe is a R&B/hip-hop group BUT since all three members were in the boy band New Edition I decided to include them here. Plus, this song brings back memories of Jr. High.
Quotable: “Girl I must warn you, I sense something strange in my mind. Situation is serious, let’s cure it because we’re running out of time.”
Head on over and check out the themes everyone else chose this week.
Thanks again for the fun Pavement Runner!
Boy bands: yay or nay?
